Nearly there but not quite! (have not had two CTTC A cards – one home one away).

Howard 1 had already won the league before their game against Luton Invicta 1 as Sturdee 1 could only beat their 4th team 7-3 (Mike Ling winning two with Andy Font beating Scott Friday 11-9 in the 5th leg – Andy’s best win of the season!). Chris Marr won his three but it was not enough. 212 points in a season would normally win it but this season Howard 1 were very strong & with 213 points from 25 played they went into their game with Luton knowing they were champs. As it happens Martin Ball did not turn up until the doubles had already started, the outcome being his games were conceded. Steve Waud lost to both Trevor & Dave Barr in an 8-2 win (Ian Gordon & Alan Longhurst winning their two matches.

Howard 1 won the doubles in 4 legs but this was not enough leaving both Howard 1 & Sturdee 1 on level points. Sturdee 1 however have a 1 leg advantage & therefore have some consolation in winning the doubles league.

At the bottom Sturdee 5 are relegated along with Rainham 83 2 (who have to play Sturdee 4 twice but are 21 points from safety so they cannot avoid the drop.

Sturdee did well to get a draw with CTTC A (although I have yet to receive the card) setting Lloyds needing at least 7 points from their game against Rainham 83 2 to avoid the drop. They won 8-2! Graham Heywood won his three & was well supported by John Roberts & Jackie Williams who both won twice. This time it was Peter Stokes who put up the resistance with a fine double. Surprisingly neither Nick or Dan (who have both been playing well recently) could manage a single win between them. Lloyds won the doubles in 4 to secure their Premier league status.

A number of games were completed without full teams. You can tell it is the end of the season! Sturdee 3 could only manage one player against Sturdee 2 (& lost 8-2) whilst Rainham 83 1 did the same in a 9-1 defeat against Cliffe Woods 1.
